The 2020-2021 Leadership Killeen class begins soon and will offer participants unparalleled leadership training and opportunities to become more involved in the local community. The purpose of the program is to engage emerging leaders with current business and community leaders to produce a shared vision for our community’s future.
Participants will attend class the third Wednesday of each month at various locations beginning October 22. Social distancing protocol will be followed and masks will be required. The monthly sessions will combine information, problem-solving and leadership development. The schedule will be as follows:
•October: Orientation. Introductions, networking, team building, icebreakers.
•November: Fort Hood. Meet military leaders and tour Fort Hood.
•December: Christmas Break
•January: Local Government Day. Meet many of our local elected leaders and learn about the local government in Killeen.
•February: Education. Learn about the many educational institutions in Killeen.
•March: State Government. Tour the state capital and meet with legislators.
•April: Business and Economic Development. Learn about future economic growth in Killeen.
•May: Health Care & Quality of Life. Tour a local hospital & meet with healthcare leaders.
In addition to developing leadership skills, Leadership Killeen gives participants the opportunity to make a difference in our community through a group project that identifies an area of need where they can practice their leadership skills. Past projects have focused on education, quality of life and the military.
Mark Price, Senior Pastor, Grace Christian Center, said of his experience with the program, "Leadership Killeen gave me an opportunity to see all of the wonderful organizations and people that are making an impact in the lives of individuals, families and businesses. I was able to meet and get to know many of my classmates during L.K. and still communicate with them. For me, it was exposure to the many different facets that make up our unique community, city and our region.
Leadership Killeen also raises expectations for yourself. Not only are you exposed to leaders and organizations, but you are afforded the opportunity to grow exponentially as a leader yourself. The teaching and interaction with both lecturers and those who direct and guide the class give each individual the capacity to grow beyond their current boundaries. Limits are taken off when you fully commit to the process of Leadership Killeen.
I would highly recommend Leadership Killeen to those who are leaders within our community, to aspiring leaders and to anyone who wants to grow in their understanding of our community, region and state."
